My day job, the television program Discover Oklahoma, begins its 20th year on the air in May of this year. To celebrate this milestone, we’re preparing an episode detailing “20 things to do along Highway 20” in our Great State. Ron, Jenifer, Dino and I left Oklahoma City just before sunrise today in order to get to the starting point on our journey: Ralston, OK. around 9am. We would traverse almost 200 miles of Highway 20 by days end, with stops in Ralston, Hominy, Skiatook, Collinsville and Claremore.

Our First stop was the Ralston Corner Cafe in Ralston (land area 0.46 square miles, population 355), Pawnee County, OK. Our time here would be short, but inspiring. Aside from their eclectic collection of hot sauces, we learned that the Ralston Corner Cafe makes a mean breakfast (think hubcap-sized hotcakes), serves up some mighty-fine hand-cut steaks, and hosts a country gospel music jam once a month.

If you happen to find yourself at the Ralston Corner Cafe between music jams, ask owner Roger Green to break out his guitar anyway. If he agrees, you’ll be glad he did!
